Get Your Adventure on in Parry Sound
If you have two days to spend in Parry Sound, and want to really understand all the great adventure the area has to offer, I created this page in the Parry Sound Travel Guide.
Get an early start with Red Rock ecoAdventure Tours’ morning tour for a personal adventure in the Georgian Bay Biosphere. All of their adventures offer you the opportunity to see, feel and touch the natural beauty of the biosphere with attention to your particular interests. About half the time is spent 'cruising' the islands with the other half spent wandering on the islands and exploring the flora and fauna that define the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve. (They will pick you up at the Town Dock, located right across the road from 40 Bay Street B&B.
After completing your eco-tour; it’s off to Bear Claw Tours for a half-day ATV tour. Drive an ATV (you must be at least 16 years of age and have a driver’s license) through the rugged Ontario wilderness, and have the chance to grasp how awesome it is to play on the Canadian Shield. With over a thousand acre trail, you will have the chance to see native birds and animals, and some of the many lakes and rivers that dot the countryside. All equipment is provided and no prior experience is required. Check out this great video of an actual Bear Claw Tour!)
To finish off, fly to Henry’s Fish Restaurant with Georgian Bay Airways. Henry’s Fish Restaurant is located on San Souci Island, and only available either by boat or air. The fish served is local and fresh, and the restaurant (and air service) live up to it’s claims of “World Famous Food. World Famous Service. World Famous Customers.”
Plan to spend a full day with White Squall Outfitters - enjoy one of their day trips in Georgian Bay, or take a lesson in the morning and rent a kayak or canoe and head back over to Killbear Provincial Park to enjoy some time paddling in either sheltered or sea-like waters. At the park, you can also visit the Interpretative Centre, hiking trails, wandering along the rocks at the shoreline (there’s a great place to jump off a rock cliff) and swimming at the beautiful sandy beach. After a full day in the sun, a short drive from the Park is a great fresh fish restaurant called Gilly’s Snug Harbour Restaurant. Have another amazing dinner of fresh local fish and then head back to Parry Sound.
