Besides fresh fruit and yogurt, a lot of our guests look forward to the muffins, biscuits and quick breads we make fresh every day.
The number one favourite is the Mixed Berry Muffin, and you can find this recipe on our web site!
Cinnamon Buns have to rank a close second…I prefer to serve them without the icing, but as Chef Simon is always reminding me, it’s not all about me!
The Cranberry Lemon Muffins are quite tart, but off-set the sweet fruits nicely – I really like to serve them with fresh pineapple slices.
Orange & Ginger Tea Biscuits are melt-in-your-mouth good. I always make sure the apricot jam is topped up – these tastes just go so well together!
Oatmeal Banana Muffins almost always come as a choice – with either walnuts or chocolate chips. We always strive to offer you a choice…although people tell us we make it tough to make a decision sometimes!
Blueberry Muffins are always a favourite at 40 Bay Street B&B. With butter slowly melting into the muffin, who could ask for anything better?
Raspberry Cheesecake Muffins are decadent treats we serve only in the summer months, when the raspberry bushes in the garden all start to ripen at once. The cream cheese that is placed on the top of this muffin before baking adds a wonderful richness to it.
Peach & Ginger Muffins are another taste treat that works best when fresh peaches are in season, dripping with nectar. I like to contrast the sweetness of the peaches with the spiciness of a bit of grated ginger – and maybe a touch of cinnamon.
Apple & Raisin Tea Biscuits are a personal favourite of mine because they make me think of my grandmother. She never bothered rolling the dough, she would just plop the dough in either a muffin pan or cookie sheet, and I remember standing by the oven door, just waiting for that timer to go!
Never to be overlooked, we make gluten free muffins and tea biscuits for those that need to avoid gluten and/or dairy products…we can always whip up a surprise or two with a little advance notice.
So, which one do you think would you like to have on your next visit to 40 Bay Street Bed & Breakfast?
