Last year Chef Simon got married at a yacht club right on the ocean on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. Up until then, I had never really appreciated how important having just the right venue for a wedding can make such a big difference in the ambience. The other thing that amazed me was how a gorgeous view makes the wedding unforgettable.
Parry Sound is fortunate to be situated right on Georgian Bay, and the Stockey Centre is located in an ideal setting for weddings at any time of the year. From an intimate wedding on the outside deck overlooking the water (with Plan B being one of the atriums or foyer to maintain that comfortable environment should the weather dare not to cooperate) to a large, formal sit-down dinner and dance in the performing hall, the Stockey Centre has it all.
Parry Sound also has florists, wedding planners, party supply rentals, caterers and everything else a busy bride and groom need to make their day special. 40 Bay Street Bed & Breakfast provides a bridal party headquarters – a base of operations for everything from pictures to flower deliveries; hairdressers and makeup artists to space for all the bridal party to get dressed.
And with all the experience I have had working with brides who have chosen 40 Bay Street Bed & Breakfast as their wedding headquarters, I felt I was able to contribute some of those skills in keeping things on track with Simon and his bride - calm and able to enjoy their special day. I also have a much greater appreciation for what the parents are dealing with – I’m thinking of including a “doctored” punch in my luncheon buffet to help them deal with the stress!
