Festival of the Sound celebrates 35 years of music

Every July and August, Parry Sound celebrates a the Festival of the Sound, is now in it's 35 year.  The three-week (mostly) chamber music festival along with an influx of classical music lovers from all over the world.  This music festival started in 1979 when Anton Kuerti (pianist) purchased a cottage in the area, and invited some of his musician friends to play at one of three concerts he organized.

1980 was the official beginning of the Festival of the Sound, with Mr. Kuerti as the Director. Five years later, James Campbell (clarinet) joined as the Artistic Director, and still holds that position.

How clean is it? Well former guests have said on TripAdvisor that we rate 5/5 for cleanliness, so I think that’s pretty good.

Pancakes at 40 Bay Street Bed & Breakfast

Shrove or Pancake Tuesday is associated with celebrations before the fasting and religious obligations associated with Lent in the Christian world. The French celebrate the timing with Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday.   Either way, it, refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lent, which starts the next day on Ash Wednesday. The pancakes we serve at 40 Bay Street B&B are made with baking powder, so that they are light and fluffy, versus the crepe, which is much flatter, and often served rolled around some type of filling.
